The first John Woo film produced in Hollywood, Hard Target starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Lance Henrickson was an interesting first impression. It had brilliant direction by Woo, despite the fact that he couldn't get Van Damme to listen to him on set. Rumors abound to this day that the movie was supposed to be much longer and delve into Henrickson's character, and it had to be re-edited several times due to excessive (blog post) violence pushing it beyond an R rating.
