The Planet of the Apes Movie Review

The 1968 classic Planet of the Apes, based on the french novel of the same title (that for some reason was originally retitled Monkey Planet in (blog) English) captured the imaginations of the moviegoers science fiction movie 44 years ago (blog post) - Does it still hold up today, or has time rendered it near unrecognizeable?
