Day Shift - movie review

It seems that there are always new movies in today's movie world. This can be thrilling, but it can also make the experience quite expensive. A night at the movies can cost a family of four over $100 once you factor in tickets, concessions, and transportation. Here is where dollar theatres come in. Dollar theaters allow you to see second-run movies for a fraction of the price at movie theaters. This makes going to the movies much more affordable for families and individuals on a budget. Although prints and sound quality may be slightly distorted, it does not diminish the enjoyment of the movie. A dollar theater is a great option to see low-budget movies that might not be showing at first-run cinemas. You can find a great option for a cheap night out at your local dollar movie theater.

All of us yearn for escapism. What better way to escapism then a horror comedy? "Day Shift" is the perfect film for these dark times. It's funky, cheap, and full with cheap thrills. However, it is also strangely timely. The film is set in a world where vampires have emerged from the shadows and now live peacefully among us. Jody, played in the film by Vanessa Hudgens as Jody, soon learns that vampires are not all created equal. Jody is tasked with determining which of the two types of vampires she should be focusing on. As she does, she must contend with corrupt cops, nosy neighbors, and a whole host of other obstacles. It's an exciting ride from start-to-finish and the perfect kind of mind-numbing entertainment. You can stream Day Shift on Netflix. It will be a great decision.

Bud takes up vampire hunting to make $10,000 in a matter of weeks. This is the opening act. He is a Los Angeles pool cleaner of the lower classes that goes on a quest to find vampires to steal their tooth and sell them for cash. Bud's mentor was Big John Elliott (aka Snoop Dogg), who was kicked out of the vampire hunters union for breaking rules and other disciplinary violations. Bud, who is a vampire hunter, tries to increase his income by hunting more vampires. He earns $10,000 in less then a week. He is able to re-join his union and gain the respect of his mentor again as a result of his efforts.

Bud and his financial woes have no idea that there is a plot in the City of Angels. Audrey San Fernando, also known as Karla Souza, is the owner and face of a fast growing real estate firm. She looks amazing in her well-fitted power suits, despite being centuries old. Although "Day Shift," or "The Shift," is not particularly subversive or satirical, the decision to make the film’s most frightening vampire a real-estate mogul is a nice joke. Audrey hopes that by purchasing numerous properties in Bud’s neighborhood, Audrey will create a safe haven to protect vampires from other bloodsuckers. After discovering that he was an elderly vampire who had killed her and pulled her teeth, she falls in love with his character. It's a pretty campy movie, but it's worth checking out if you're a fan of vampire movies or want to see Karla Souza in a different light.

I'm not sure if "Day Shift" is a great movie, but it's definitely a fun one. It falls into the category of movies that are stupid and trashy, dealing in classic tropes and cliches, and include a lot of placeholder speech. However, it's also skillfully constructed. Each member of the cast attempts to keep the illusion that they know the joke, while making the situation seem completely absurd. This is a middling example, yet its skillful construction cannot be denied. Day Shift will make a great, funny movie.

Day Shift, a film that will keep you on edge of your seats, is the type of movie that will make you shiver. This action-packed thrill ride is full of gore and will keep you coming back for more. The movie's first half is filled with familiar scenes that will make you feel like you have seen them all before. Don't be deceived. This movie isn't predictable. JJ Perry does an amazing job keeping the movie fresh and exciting, drawing inspiration from greats like Sam Raimi's Evil Dead films and 1980s Hong Kong kung-fu pictures. Every battle in this film is masterfully executed and will leave you on the edge of your seat. One of my favourite and most memorable visual moments was the drone shot near the start of the movie. Day Shift should be seen by all action movie fans.

The movie really starts to find its footing when Bud and Audrey's storylines begin to intersect. This is the point where the movie hits the perfect balance of silly deadpan humor with martial arts-influenced supernatural brawls and gunplay, vehicle chases and gore. It's amazing how they battle zombies with their motorcycles in a graveyard. The best part about it is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It is clear that the film's creators had a great time making it. This joy really shines through on Day Shift review screen. Dead Seven is a film that's equal parts crazy, violent, funny, and just plain weird.

Foxx excels in every role he plays, including Day Shift. In this movie, he portrays a sardonic action figure in the vein of Arnold Schwarzenegger. His character is reminiscent of classic action films. He is a badass and can kill 10 people before they can pull their guns from their holsters. Foxx is a straight-man who is somewhat confused by the events around him. This is a wonderful portrayal of the action film genre. Foxx is an exceptional actor who clearly enjoys his role.

Seth, a young vampire hunter, is played by Dave Franco. He begins to realize that the job is far more difficult than it seems and that maybe he's not as brave as he thought. Snoop Dogg is his mentor and plays a role similar to Kris Kristofferson. Snoop, who looks great in Western gear, is a great comedian in this movie. Seth learns from him how to become the vampire hunter they were meant to.
