Day Shift (vampires) break-down

Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco are the stars of the new vampire hunting movie "Day Shift". The story follows a blue collar father who wants to provide a comfortable life for his daughter. However, his job as a pool cleaner in San Fernando Valley is just a façade for his true source of income: hunting and killing vampires for the International Union of Vampire Hunters.

It sounds like a fun idea, but can J.J. Perry bring it to life?

The opening scene in "Day Shift" is a crazy action sequence with Jamie Foxx shotgun blasting the hell out of an old lady who turns out to be a vampire, which then becomes this nuts fight sequence between the two of them that is such a blast. I feel like the movie really has fun with this kind of rag-doll physics in its action scenes, making those sequences pop in a way that a lot of the Netflix action movies (or action blockbusters these days) don't. When watching scenes like this it's easy to forget the old saying that "action speaks louder then words". However, I believe part of what makes "Day Shift so successful is its ability to combine dialogue and action to advance the plot and character development. Jamie Foxx's vampire-killing scene ends with him having a funny and dry conversation about how he thought she would turn into a bat or some other creature. These are the moments that make "Day Shift", a movie unlike any other.

Day Shift is a movie (news source) so bad that it's funny. It is clear what they were trying and yet they fail so badly. The acting is wooden, the dialogue is stilted, and the plot is full of holes. However, it was still enjoyable. Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for vampire movies, or maybe it's because I just enjoy watching bad movies. Day Shift was a fun movie. While it isn't a great movie, it's very entertaining. That's all I need from a movie of this quality.

Day Shift was a very mixed movie. The movie has a lot to offer, including some good action and characters (the brothers and Seth), while the villain is terrible and the characters are very average. It felt like some scenes had been left out. Bud's neighbor acts like they're friends, even though before the final scene she maybe had 3 minutes of screen time. I guess that helps the better characters shine even more. It's a fun movie overall, but could have been more.

I almost forgot about Snoop Dogg. He's an amazing character in Day Shift. He makes the movie worthwhile. His comedy is great and he's funny. He is so natural in this role. It's as if he was made for the role.
