Day Shift (horror movie) film break-down

Jamie Foxxand Dave Franco star in the vampire hunting movie "Day Shift". The story is about a hardworking blue collar dad who wants to provide a decent life for his smart daughter. But his boring job cleaning pools in San Fernando Valley, California, is only a facade for his real income source, hunting and killing vampirics as part of the international Union of vampire hunters.

The premise sounds interesting, but can J.J. Perry deliver the goods?

Jamie Foxx is seen shooting at a woman who turns out to have been a vampire in the opening scene of "Day Shift". This then leads to a wild fight between them. The movie's use of rag-doll physics in its action scenes makes them pop in a way other Netflix action movies (or blockbusters) do not. It's hard to not think about the old adage that "action speaks more than words". But, "Day Shift" has a unique ability to employ both dialogue and action to enhance the story and character development. Jamie Foxx's vampire-killing scene ends with him having a funny and dry conversation about how he thought she would turn into a bat or some other creature. It's moments like this that help to elevate "Day Shift" above other similar movies.

Day Shift is a movie so bad that it's funny. It is clear what they were trying and yet they fail so badly. The acting is wooden, the dialogue is stilted, and the plot is full of holes. It was enjoyable, though. Maybe it's my obsession with vampire movies, maybe it's just because I like watching bad movies. Day Shift was great. Although it's not a great film, it's still a lot fun. This is all I expect from a movie like that.

Day Shift had mixed reviews. There are some great action scenes and fun characters (the brothers and Seth), but the villain is terrible and there are a lot more mediocre characters. However, that makes Day Shift even more enjoyable. It seemed like there were missing scenes that were not cut. Bud's neighbor acts as if they are friends even though she had only 3 minutes of screentime before the final scene. Bud made prank phone calls while working at the gas station, (Day Shift starring Jaime Foxx) which was probably the best scene in the movie. It was funny, and it was a great movie. The movie's rest was not as enjoyable. So, overall, I'd say that Day Shift is a mixed bag. There are good parts, and there are bad parts. However, if you want to have some fun, there are better movies than this one.

Snoop dogg was something I almost forgot to mention. He is great in Day Shift. He makes the whole movie worth watching. His humor is infectious and he delivers some memorable lines. More importantly, he just feels so natural in the part. He is a natural actor.
