Hatchet 3 is the Hatchet's horror film of 2013. It chronicles the ongoing adventures of Victor Crowley and his murderous rampage through Honey Island Swamp in Louisiana. Kane Hodder portrays Victor Crowley while Brian Quinn plays Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanbilt plays Misty.



The strength of the movie lies in the practical effects. Hatchet 3 uses a lot less CG effects than other horror films. This allows for some truly frightening moments to be recorded throughout the film.

The cast is solid and the lead actor Kane Hodder proving to be an formidable villain. The dialogue feels like a 1980s slasher film. It is witty and funny enough. There are moments of humor (blog post) throughout the film which add humour to the bloody action.

Due to the budget being small (1 million dollars), many of the locations are duplicates of earlier films. Hatchet 2's boat house was used only once, and the rest of the footage feels like it's been reused from earlier films. Hatchet or Hatchet II may be able to recognize it as familiar, and this can lead to the film feeling almost too familiar.

Overall, Hatchet 3 was an enjoyable series. I liked the gory thrills it offered and the entertaining performances of the actors.
