Hatchet 3 (2013) is the third film of horror of the Hatchet Series. It chronicles the ongoing adventures of Victor Crowley and his murderous rampage through Honey Island Swamp in Louisiana. Kane Hodder portrays Victor Crowley while Brian Quinn plays Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanbilt plays Misty.



The use of special effects is the primary strength of this movie. Hatchet 3 uses a majority of makeup effects that are practical and sets. This is different from many horror movies nowadays that heavily rely on CG effects. It also features several truly terrifying moments.

The cast gives a strong performance and Kane Hodder standing out as the most intimidating villain. It's like an '80s slasher movie and the dialogue is a bit too funny and snarky. There are moments of humor in the film which add humour to bloody action.

However because of the small budget (reportedly just $1 million) most of the locations are re-used from earlier films in the series--the same boat house was featured twice in the film and much of it feels like it's been recycled from other films in this franchise. It can seem like it's all too familiar at times for those who have already watched Hatchet or Hatchet 2

Overall, Hatchet 3 (click now to read blog) was enjoyable although it was like the previous entries in the series. It provided lots of gory thrills as well as entertaining performances by the cast members.
