His father has been taken captive by an unknown entity, sending shivers down the audience's spines. Ah, the classic horror trope of false hope.

The maestro behind Hatchet II, Adam Green, had initially declared that a couple of spine-chilling continuations would ensue. In the year of our lord 2011, Dark Sky Studios bestowed upon us the unholy gift of Hatchet III, a blood-soaked opus of terror that will leave you trembling in fear. Green, a horror aficionado, opted out of directing the sequel himself. However, he did pen the script, produce the project, and maintain artistic authority, ultimately deciding on the director. The third installment of the Hatchet franchise saw the talented cameraman BJ McDonnell taking the reins from Green.

The bloodcurdling Hatchet III made its debut at Adam Green's fundraiser, which was a tribute to the victims of the 2013 Boston bombings. This spine-chilling flick hit theaters and Video On Demand on June 14, 2013. The spine-tingling horror flick was eventually unleashed on home media in 2013.

The third installment of Hatchet has garnered a polarizing response from critics. After perusing the 23 reviews gathered by Rotten Tomatoes, I must say that Hatchet III has left me with a sense of unease.

With a 57% approval rating and an average score of 4.9 out of 10, this horror flick certainly has its moments of terror, but falls short in some areas. As a horror movie aficionado, I must say that the site's consensus on Hatchet III is spot on. The filmmakers seem to have buried the lede, leaving the audience with a hacked and staggering sequel that limps its way to a bloody end.

This spine-chilling horror flick received a frightful score of 25 out of 100 on Metacritic, as per the reviews of eight brave souls who dared to watch it.

Ah, the news of a fourth Hatchet film took me by surprise in August 2017. But what a treat it was to learn that it had been secretly filmed and completed, and would be unleashed upon us in October under the title Victor Crowley.

Adam Green's latest horror flick revisits the bloodcurdling world of Victor Crowley, a decade after the spine-chilling events of the first three films. Kane Hodder's reprisal of the titular character and Parry Shen's return as the Hatchet III survivor, Andrew Yong, promise to keep fans of the genre on the edge of their seats.

The horror flick is set to grace the screens of a few chosen theaters across the United States as part of the "Victor Crowley Road Show" by Dark Sky Films. This event is a tribute to the original movie's decade-long existence and will also be featured in various international film festivals.

The spine-tingling teaser trailer dropped just one day after the announcement of the film.
