RoboCop 1987

Robocop would not be part of a list of the top action movies from 1980s. Paul Verhoeven's first Hollywood picture is still widely regarded as not just a classic among 1980s action movies, but also as one of the most astute, though blatant, satires of that time period. RoboCop was initially dismissed as a harmless period movie. However, the film's popularity has grown over time. While RoboCop has the appearance of an action movie, its deepest qualities are where Paul Verhoeven’s talents shine. As I look back on my (original post) younger self and see how he did not see this, I want him to be mad at me. However, RoboCop is responsible for helping me to see the graphic violence on film.
