Modern capitalism's polished exterior hides unimaginable cruelty. And Verhoeven continues to stress this by revealing the Robocop's history, who is suggested as an alternative to those combat robots by a competitor boss. He arranges for those criminals to murder Weller's (click here) character Alex Murphy in order to get the human body he need. The message is clear once again: Capitalist technocracy's dazzling marvels--RoboCop is amazing!--cannot exist without suffering.
