Breakdown for Skinned Deep (horror)

Skinned Deep, an American slasher film directed by Gabriel Bartalos and released in 2004, is highly recommended to all fans of horror films. The Rockwell family gets lost along the highway and winds ending up with an eccentric family as a result. The household consists of a mom and her three sons whom they call Brain, Plates, and Surgeon General (Jason Dugre and Warwick Davis respectively) (Kurt Carley). As the story progresses it becomes evident that the family is engaged in illegal activities and poses danger to the rockwells. The revelation is no surprise.

Skinned Deep is an unforgettable horror flick due to the over-the-top sets, its humorous moments, and its fast-paced cutting. The humor and speed of the film was praised by the reviewer from Variety, Dennis Harvey, who described the movie as "funny and inexplicably repetitive." It was however noted that Steve Barton of Dread Central did not give the film 2.5 stars, pointing out its overuse of outdated cliches and predictable plot as motives for his rating. Because of the effects, the visual that is reminiscent of the 1980s, and frenzied pacing, Ryan Larson of Bloody Disgusting identified it as "one that is among the top outrageous horror films from the 2000s."



The slim budget that it was running was going to deter Bartalos from creating a thriller film that had the look of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre or The Hills Have Eyes. Instead, the filmmaker improvised a science fiction/slasher combination that is completely unintelligible to say the least. It's also completely off the mark. The fact that Bartalos prior experience working on special effects for the well-known horror movies like "Frankenhooker" and "Brain Damage" prior to working on "Skinned Deep" is proof of his love for the imaginative.

Skinned Deep is a good selection for horror buffs who are seeking something different to watch despite the film's low budget and old-fashioned special effects which could put off certain viewers. After the first half hourthat feels like the exact sameness of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre The film takes some unexpected turns that make It one of most unique horror films in the decade. It helps earn its place as one of the top films in the genre. This is a horror film that will be remembered because of its unique tone and unique ensemble, which includes the crazy plate-throwing dude known as Plates and the Surgeon General.

One of the most talked about aspects of Skinned Deep are the various creature models and effects employed throughout the film. Bartalos who is a specialist in the field of visual effects, conjures up an ensemble of intriguing and bizarre people and brings they to life. Everybody might not like Skinned Deep. It's odd, mysterious or even weird at times. It's quite bizarre. But, those who would like to view something that is taking creative risk in this genre should certainly take a look. Skinned Deep is able to distinguish itself from other horror films due to the fact that it is built on an original idea and the fact that Bartalos set a priority on creating realistic effects.
